According to the Pakistan Association Liverpool (PAL) website – PAL has been hosting the Ascentis Community Interpreting Level 1 course since September 2018 for 12 weeks.
The Level 1 Award in Community Interpreting introduces students to community, or public service, interpreting. It develops student’s awareness of the English language and knowledge, your understanding of community, public service and voluntary organisations where interpreters might work, the role of the community interpreter and some basic specialism knowledge.
The course at PAL comprises of 11 students from a range of countries. There are a number of languages spoken in class including Arabic, Farsi and Chinese. It is hoped that most students would continue and go on to complete level 2 of the course.
