Bringing the Yemeni community together through sport
A football match will be held on Tuesday (tomorrow), between Ettihad and Alshoulla in a 7-a-side league organized by a group of Yemeni Youth in Liverpool led by Abdul Rahman Al Numeiri. The idea of the league is to bring a positive impact on the Yemeni community, and bring the youth together through sport. Yemen is currently going through a devastating civil-war, which, is classed by the United Nations as ‘world’s worse humanitarian crisis’, with tension on the rise amongst the Yemeni people. “Such initiatives help the Yemeni people to stay together and unite regardless of their differences” – said league organizers.
There are 10 teams and approx. 100+ players participated in the league. 9 Teams from Liverpool and a team from Warrington. Though the Warrington team Ettyifaq had a very strong start but for a number of reasons including breaking league rules they withdrew from the league.
